Jack Finn

About Me
Jack joined the Mason City Soccer Club in 2022. He is originally from Clear Lake, IA and moved back to the area in 2021. Jack graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Business and currently works in IT.
Coaching Experience
Jack brings years of experience to our soccer club. He started his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Clear Lake Boy’s High School in 2016-2018. Jack was the assistant coach for the Cedar Valley Soccer Club Boy’s U18 team for 3 years and was heavily involved in the development of their Academy program and players ages U6-U8. During his coaching career, Jack has helped advance many players to the college level of soccer.

Soccer Experience
Jack played on multiple traveling teams throughout North Iowa growing up, eventually playing for the U18’s at Cedar Valley. He was a 4-year high school starter and captained his senior year. After high school, Jack signed with the Men’s team at North Iowa Area Community College where he continued to find success. After NIACC, Jack went onto the University of Northern Iowa where he was involved with the UNI Men’s Club Soccer Team. He was also a US Soccer registered referee for 6 years.

Fun Fact
During his free time, you can find Jack watching the English Premier League supporting the Tottenham Hotspurs or rooting AGAINST Manchester United! Jack and his wife live in Mason City with their two dogs (Nella & Winnie) and their 1 year old son, Cahler.

Cindy Holland

About Me

Teams: U12 Girls
Cindy has been involved in athletics since she was a young child. In high school, she had multiple awards: 1st team all conference in volleyball; conference honors in basketball; medal winner at state and threw at Drake in shot put/discus; and All-district player of the year, played in All-Star game, and state qualifier in softball. At Waldorf College, Cindy played softball, volleyball, and soccer. She loves coaching and watching young athletes develop their skills.

Coaching Experience
Cindy has been coaching youth soccer for around 9 years. She has a Grassroots coaching certifications through the U.S. Soccer Association in 11V11 and 7V7 level of play. She also has her coaching authorization certificate and has coached high school volleyball. Cindy started coaching youth sports (softball, basketball, and volleyball) when she was 16 years old.

Soccer Experience
Cindy played collegiate soccer at Waldorf College as a midfielder and also played some goalie.

Fun Fact
Cindy's family lives on an acreage with horses, dogs, cats, plus various wildlife. They have 4 children - two boys and two girls. When she's not out riding horses, she loves being a hermit and reading books. Her girls love playing soccer for Mason City Soccer Club!

Nathan Martin

About Me

Teams: U12 Boys

Nathan grew up in North Iowa, met his wife (MCHS '98) working at Birdsall’s Ice Cream in high school, and graduated from Newman Catholic in 1997. Nathan studied Sociology at Northwestern College (Orange City, IA) and went to graduate school at Gordon-Conwell near Boston. The Martins have two boys who play for the Mason City Soccer Club.

Coaching Experience
Nathan has been coaching at the U10/12 level for the MCSC since 2020. Nathan has a US Soccer Grassroots coaching license for U10.

Soccer Experience
Nathan grew to love soccer in SE Asia. The NGO he worked for played a recreational match weekly. Nathan enjoyed learning the game through his international colleagues and became a big fan of following the Premier League.

Fun Fact
Nathan’s high school and collegiate sports experience was in wrestling. Nathan went to the state wrestling tournament three times with Newman Catholic and wrestled in nationals twice for Northwestern College.

RJ WhiteAbout Me

Teams: U10 Boys

RJ is from Britt, Iowa. He played multiple sports in High School from Football, Baseball, and Track. He now follows his children around coaching and/or cheering them on as they chase their dreams! RJ loves helping players unlock their potential and empowering them to push forward and achieve their goals!

Coaching Experience

RJ coached AYSO for 2 years, and coached his daughter's 2021 AYSO team to an undefeated 9-0 season in 2021. He also coached his sons' teams to a 15-1 record in two years with a undefeated season in 2022.

Soccer Experience

Elementary School Playground! RJ was on the AYSO Board of Directors for Region 248.

Fun Fact

RJ has never played 1 minute of organized soccer. But when his son Lane and daughter Aubree
started showing interest, he spent HOURS watching YouTube training videos, attending any
coaching clinic he could, and playing his son in FIFA …. And losing.

Marty Garrett

About Me
Marty is a special education teacher at Pinecrest Center in Mason City. He has three daughters who are all former players for MCSC. Besides coaching soccer, in his free time, Marty likes to sing and play guitar in the band Betty & The Gents.

Coaching Experience
Marty has been coaching soccer for the last 14 years starting as a volunteer parent coach for MC Park & Rec soccer. He has coached multiple teams for MCSC since its start in 2014. He has also coached for the MC High School girls soccer team and served as the Director of Soccer Operations for the NIACC Trojans.

Soccer Experience
Marty was an active athlete in his youth playing football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, and about anything competitive he could find to do with others. However, Marty never played soccer, but after having coached and enjoyed watching his daughters play, wishes he could have enjoyed it while he still had his youth.

Fun Fact
Marty is one of the charter members of the Mason City Soccer Club and designed the MCSC logo.

Our coaches are required to complete at a minimum the US Soccer Grassroots coaching certification. All coaches have passed a background check and are approved in the ISL database.
